This customer is a leading manufacturer and provider of products and services for the renewable energy, conservation, residential, industrial, and infrastructure markets with over $1 billion in revenue in 2020. They are a highly diversified corporation which includes dozens of subsidiaries across the United States, each of which has its own specific wireless telecommunications needs with a total of well over 1,000 lines including smartphones, flip phones, tablets, hotspots and USB modems.
As such, management of their accounts required coordination with numerous nationwide different administrative teams, each having its own needs and priorities; a "one solution fits all" approach simply would not work with a diversified corporate entity of their complexity.
Upon first consultation, each of the 37 subsidiaries were managing their wireless devices and transactions independently with no centralized corporate policy or controls. This resulted in excessive waste and mis-management of corporate resources including excessive equipment purchasing, and sub-optimal rate plan configurations across virtually every account and cellular line. In this customer's case there were dozens of accounts ranging in size from several lines to several hundred lines - each with its own account number, access credentials, contract terms, etc. Under our management the various accounts were merged into a single foundation account with billing accounts grouped by organization. A significant project unto itself, this allowed for the standardization of rate plans and the aggregation of reporting across accounts while retaining the ability to provide each subsidiary with its own bill. It turned the task of administering the organization's wireless resources into a manageable one. It also had the effect of reducing the workload placed on Accounts Payable which previously had to seek out individual reports for each account, often with little to no standardization between those reports.
